Five die, four injured in road mishap in Solan. CM condoles death
At least five migrant labourers died on the spot and four other injured, two of them seriously when a Toyota Innova taxi hit them near Punjab National Bank on Pinjore – Shimla National Highway 5 at Dharampur in Solan district, on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Guddu Yadav, Moti Lal, Nippu Nishad, Sunny and Raj Verma while Babudin and Arjun Yadav were rushed to MMU Hospital Sultanpur while Aditya and Mahesh were referred to PGIMR Chandigarh.
Solan Additional SP Ajay Rana said that the incident took place at around 9 am in the morning when a speeding Innova tax bearing registration number (HP 02- 1540) hit them near PNB branch on national highway. The taxi was on way towards Parwanoo side while the labourers were moving on foot along the highway.
Preliminary investigations made by police revealed that the tax driver Rajesh, resident of Garkhal village near Kasauli has been arrested while the Innova car has also been impounded.
He said that injured labourers were immediately rushed to Dharampur civil hospital where five were declared brought dead while two were referred to PGI Chandigarh and two were referred to MMU Hospital Sulatanpur where their condition was said to be stable. A case has been registered. EOM
Meanwhile Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has condoled the demise of migrant labourers who were hit by a moving vehicle at Dharampur in Solan district today.The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the incident and has directed the administration to provide immediate relief to the next of Kin of the poor labourers and further assistance as per the relief manual. He also directed for giving free medical aid to those injured in the mishap. The two seriously injured has been referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh while the two others have been admitted to Maharishi Markandeshwar Hospital, as per the reports received. Mr Sukhu in his message has conveyed his sympathies with the grieved family members and prayed for peace of the departed souls.
