Prime Minister applauds efforts of IAMD in Mann Ki Baat 27th November, 2022 has been inscribed in golden letters in the history of
treatment of Muscular Dystrophy. On this historic day, the Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in his weekly program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ drew the attention of India towards the ‘Manav Mandir’ a philanthropic organization of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh for the treatment of muscular dystrophy. Honorable Prime Minister in ‘Mann ki Baat’ program said “My dear
countrymen, the world of medical science has made a lot of progress with the help of research and innovation as well as state-of-the-art technology and equipment, but some diseases, even today, remain a big challenge for us. One such disease is – Muscular Dystrophy! It is mainly a genetic disease that can occur at any age, in which the muscles of the body begin to weaken. It becomes
difficult for the patient to do even his small tasks of daily life. The treatment and care of such patients require great sense of service. We have such a centre at Solan in Himachal Pradesh, which has become a new ray of hope for the patients of Muscular Dystrophy. The name of this centre is ‘Manav Mandir’; it is being run by the Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy. Manav Mandir is
a wonderful example of human service true to its name. OPD and admission services for the patients started here three-four years ago. Manav Mandir also has the facility of beds for about 50 patients. Along with Physiotherapy, Electrotherapy, and Hydrotherapy, diseases are also treated here with the help of Yoga-Pranayama. Friends, through all kinds of hi-tech facilities, this centre also tries to bring a
positive change in the lives of the patients. A challenge associated with Muscular Dystrophy is also a lack of awareness about it. That’s why, this centre organizes awareness camps for patients not only in Himachal Pradesh but across the country. The most encouraging thing is that the management of this organization is mainly done by people suffering from this disease. Social worker Urmila Baldi ji, President of Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy Sister Sanjana Goyal ji, Shriman Vipul Goyal ji and other members of this association played an important role for this institution. Efforts are also on to develop Manav Mandir as a hospital and research centre. With this, patients will be able to get better treatment here. I heartily appreciate all the people trying in this direction, as well as wish the best for recovery of all the people suffering from Muscular Dystrophy”. The President of the Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy Ms. Sanjana Goel said that the Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive genetic disorder which impacts the muscles of the afflicted and eventually leaves them immobile and totally dependent on others. There is no cure for this disorder till research finds the appropriate drugs. Until then, the afflicted persons have to learn to manage this disease and live with a positive attitude. The IAMD family is totally overwhelmed by the attention and compassion shown by our Prime Minister towards the Muscular Dystrophy patients. Our efforts to bring about a constructive change in their lives will go a long way with the motivational words of our Prime Minister. We express our heartfelt thanks to him. This journey would not have been possible without the support of many philanthropic organizations and friends. We will take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who has helped and supported us all through this unbelievable journey. The dream to build the Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Rehabilitation Centre, ‘Manav Mandir’ in Solan started with the help and support of our most ardent advocate, Satluj Jal Vidyud Nigam (SJVN) who reposed their faith in our ideas and
contributed majorly towards the construction of building of the centre and their support continues till today. Their unwavering assistance has been our biggest pillar of strength. The SAI Engineering Foundation also helped us to realize our dreams and aspirations. Manav Mandir is also aided by NTPC, REC, ONGC, IOC, PFC, IREDA and many other donors from within and outside the State. Volunteers from many educational institutions, doctors and people from various sections of the society extend selfless services for the cause. We are also indebted to Himachal Government for its invaluable support. Our heartfelt gratitude for this altruism
from all ends. With our PM’s encouragement and everyone’s love and prayers, we now wish to focus more and more on conducting research and finding drugs to cure this genetic disorder Ms Sanjana added.
