Recital by Sajan Mishra & Sarod playing of TN Majumder enthrall Shimla Classical music Festival
Three days Shimla Heritage Festival of Classical Music witnessed enthralling presentation by the Drupad Gayaki by Indian Classical vocalist Padam Bhushan Pt Sajan Mishra and Sarod playing by the best known Sarod maestros of country Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumder on Saturday. Pt Majumder begun the festival on second day of event begins with the Rag Durageshwari( combination of Rag Jhanjhoti and Rag Durga) and cancluded by Rag Misher Pehari. He was accompanied by Ramakumar Mishra on Tabla . The audience of Shimla aploude strokes on strings by Pt Majumder. He was conferred with US music Grammy awards in 2010 for his ‘Soul call Om Namah Narayanay’ album. He music training begins by his grandfather late Bibhuti Ranjan Majumder and latter from his father Rajan Mujumdar. In the second half of program Pt Sajan Mishra remembered his elder brother Rajan Mishra who left this abode and broke the brother noted music duo during Covid. Pt Sajan Mishra said that he performed last time six years ago with Rajan Mishra but today he is missing him. Pt Sajan Mishra was accompanied with vocalist Swaransh Mishra, Ustad Akram Khan on Tabla and Pt Dharmamnath Mishra on Harmonium. The recital was begin by Pt Sajan Mishra by Rag Yogkons with ‘bandish’ Kahani Guman Kare rai tu Bavre’.
