On the very first day of the monsoon session, the state assembly witnessed sharp exchanges between members of the treasury and opposition benches as the house adjourned the agenda listed for today to discuss the issue of rain fury.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu began the discussion on the issue and stated that BJP members should participate in the issue of monsoon fury. They are trying to give a political twist and walk out of the house. He said that no member of the house offered their one-month salary to the Apada Kosh and now they are not even helping the ruling party to raise the issue of a special relief package with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Sukhu said that people are paying generously to the CM relief fund as even kids are breaking the piggy banks. The people are coming forward by offering their entire saving and all the state governments also offer their donations. Chief Minister said that a CPS has even donated 11 lakh to the CM relief package. Mr. Sukhu also commented on the opposition in the house that if they do not dare to talk to the Prime minister on the rain relief they should at least assist the Government in sharing the concern as the Government has spent from state own kitty. Chief Minister said that a BJP leader from the state was trying to stop the sanction of some PMGSY roads by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. He said that the Union Government has released Rs 2600 Crore on the repeated request of public works development minister Vikramaditya Singh. Replying to the opposition’s allegation of providing relief assistance to ineligible beneficiaries chief minister said that if the leader of the opposition had any name who got undue benefit government would not hesitate to take action against him.
Responding to the leader of the opposition’s remarks about the release of Rs. 2600 Cr. by the center for the road in the house, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that the center did not release the Rs 2600 Cr for the rain-affected roads but it was released against the DPR under Prime Minister Gram Sarak Yojana. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi intervening during the discussion said that BJP is trying to defame the Congress government on the incident of a viral video in which apple growers are throwing rotten apples in the water drain and another person along with him was laughing. He said that after registration of FIR on the issue it was found that the apple grower was a BJP worker and he was also slapped Rs one lakh fine by an official of the State Pollution Control Board for polluting the water. Minister said that hail the action of SPCB for fining the growers who are not only making fun but polluting the water.
