State Congress President MP Pratibha Singh has expressed happiness over the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill with the majority in the Lok Sabha, saying that finally the country’s former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late. The path has been paved for the realization of Rajiv Gandhi’s dream of 33 percent reservation for women in politics. She said that Rajiv Gandhi had taken the initiative by giving reservation to women in Panchayati Raj institutions and municipal bodies, now giving women their rights in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will ensure women’s participation in active politics.
Pratibha Singh has praised the efforts of former All India Congress Committee President Sonia Gandhi on the Women’s Reservation Bill and said that Sonia Gandhi has a big role in getting this bill passed with a majority. She said that Sonia Gandhi demanded proper participation of women in politics and their reservations from every platform. Sonia Gandhi even got the party’s political resolution passed in the Congress Working Committee meeting demanding the BJP government at the Center to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Pratibha Singh said that even though the BJP government at the Center has got this bill passed, the mother of this bill is Congress and Congress welcomes this bill. She has said that efforts should be made to implement it soon so that political inequality with women in the country can be removed soon.
