Prabodh Saxena held meeting with central team on losses suffered by the State

The inter-ministerial team of the central government, which has arrived in the state to assess the damages caused so far during this monsoon season, held a meeting with Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and senior officers of the concerned departments late on Friday evening and discussed the damages report.

On this occasion, the Chief Secretary said that an in-depth assessment of the damages caused in the state has been done. He asked the state officers to present the facts while ensuring compliance of the guidelines for detailed damage report. In view of the loss caused by the disaster, it is necessary to present the matter in the right perspective at various levels to get assistance from the Central Disaster Response Fund. He informed that the use of the space-based application has been ensured to take stock of the damages caused by the heavy rains in the state. He said that drones and Aapda Mitras also played an important role during the relief operations.

On this occasion, the chairman of the central team, Ravinesh Kumar said that the team visited the disaster affected districts in two different groups and took stock of the situation. He said that there has been heavy damage in flood hit areas of the state. He also appreciated the steps taken by the local administration and the government for relief and rescue. Ravinesh Kumar and other members in the team also gave important suggestions.

A detailed presentation was also given on various relief and rescue operations during the disaster on the occasion. It was informed that 147 percent more rainfall than normal has been recorded from 24th June to 14th July, 2023 while 436 percent more than normal rainfall has been recorded from 7th July to 11th July, while 5480 incidents of landslides, 14 cloudbursts and 83 flash floods have occurred in the state so far during monsoon.

A short documentary based on the relief and rescue operations was also presented on the occasion.

Additional Director General of Police Abhishek Trivedi, senior officers of the state government and members of the inter-ministerial team were also present in the meeting.
