CM Sukhu remembers Kargil Martyrs on Vijay Diwas

Remembering the Kargil Martyrs on Vijay Diwas here today, Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “I salute the Kargil Martyrs on behalf of the people of Himachal Pradesh, who sacrificed their life for the sovereignty and integrity of the Nation braving the chill of barren lifeless mountains and cold deserts during the Kargil war in the year 1999”. Sh. Sukhu remembered the valor of the soldiers of the Indian armed forces, who fought for the security of the Nation, and the sacrifices made by 52 brave hearts from Himachal Pradesh for their spine-chilling courage. Expressing profound gratitude for the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the motherland Sh. Sukhu said that the heroic actions of our brave soldiers exemplified the true spirit of patriotism and selflessness, inspiring the generations to come. Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year.

Meanwhile, Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed in various parts of the districts of Hamirpur, Una, and Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday with rich tributes being paid to Kargil heroes and martyrs.  Deputy Commissioner, Hemraj Bairwa paid tributes to the martyrs at the statue of Captain Mridum Sharma in the Hiranagar forests of Hamirpur Wednesday.  He administered an oath to the people present there to remain united to face the challenges of the foreign powers trying to destabilize the nation.  He said, “The Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on July 26 every year in memory and honor of the martyred soldiers. In this war, 576 soldiers of the country got Veergati, in which 52 soldiers of Himachal Pradesh including eight from Hamirpur.”, at the Shaheed Smarak established at the Municipal Council Park Una.  The military salute was first given to the martyrs in the program jointly organized by Sainik Welfare Center Una and the district administration.  A tribute was also organized on the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas at Shaheed Smarak Bilaspur.  43 Additional Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur Dr.  Nidhi Patel paid floral tributes in the presence of ex-servicemen and brave women to the martyred soldiers who made their supreme sacrifice defending the country.  Courtesy of the Sainik Welfare Committee, three brave women of the district were honored by the Additional Deputy Commissioner in the tribute ceremony.  

District Collector Kangra Dr.  Nipun Jindal and other officers-employees paid tribute to the martyrs in the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.  On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr.  Nipun Jindal also administered the oath to always remember the sacrifices of the heroes who attained martyrdom for the protection of the country and to preserve their glorious history.  After this, the Deputy Commissioner bowed down to the brave sons of Mother India, who defeated the enemies with their incomparable courage and bravery on the inaccessible hills of Kargil at the War Memorial in Dharamsala.  Here he paid homage to the martyrs and recalled their incomparable contribution.  He said that the soldiers of the country have given a befitting reply to the enemy by showing bravery on every occasion.  The borders of the country are secure due to the sacrifice and sacrifice of the soldiers.  He said that even in adverse circumstances, soldiers stand firm to protect the borders.  During this, SDM Dharamshala Dharmesh Ramotra, Assistant Commissioner Subhash Gautam, Station Commander Brigadier KVPS Sambayal along with family members of martyrs, army officers, jawans.
