BJP is trying to do politics over calamity: Baldev Thakur
Baldev Thakur, Secretary, of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, while attacking former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and other BJP leaders, said that Himachal Pradesh has been hit by the worst disaster to date and heavy loss of life and property due to rains and floods. It is happening and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and other BJP leaders are trying to bake their political breads by making unnecessary statements in the hour of such calamity.
Baldev Thakur said that since the day innumerable people were stranded in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains, the present Chief Minister of the State Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, and his Ministers and Chief Parliamentary Secretaries kept the front in the flood-affected areas irrespective of their lives and Day and night he helped the people trapped in the flood and took them to safe places by helicopter and other means. Baldev Thakur said that instead of telling lies, former Chief Minister Jairam should tell the media how Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi And Congress Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi reached Chandratal by walking for several hours in minus-degree temperatures and reached there by helping hundreds of people and saved them alive while the people trapped in Chandratal had given up hope of survival.
Baldev Thakur accused the BJP leaders that if there was a BJP government instead of Congress in the state at the time of such a disaster, all their ministers would have turned the disaster into an opportunity and instead of helping the people financially, they would have crossed all limits of corruption.
Praising the present state government, Baldev Thakur said that the decision of the Chief Minister that the people whose houses have been damaged due to floods, the immediate relief amount which was only ten thousand during the BJP time, has been increased to one lakh. And along with this, the Chief Minister has also given instructions that after preparing a complete estimate of the damage done to someone’s house, the government will provide full financial assistance to the extent of the total loss, while a BJP leader is also denying it, which is ridiculous.
Regarding the statement given by the former Chief Minister regarding the helicopter, in which Jairam said that the helicopter is not being used for rescuing the people, Baldev Thakur said that till now the helicopter is being used to rescue the people trapped in the disaster and other people in the tribal areas. Materials like essential health facilities have been installed. Jairam and other BJP leaders should go to the Modi government with their eyes open and praise the Chief Minister for dealing with this difficult crisis like heavy rains and floods in an unexpected way and advocate for financial help to the state. While the misuse of the helicopter by the former Chief Minister in the previous BJP government should be investigated so that Jairam could not mislead the general public in this hour of disaster.
