Thunderstorms, landslide and Snowfall disrupts normal life in Himachal
Many places of Una and Sirmaur remained in darkness, Snowfall and landslide disrupted vehicular traffic between, Manali-Keylong, Manali-Udaipur and Tandi -Killar Highway district administration Lahaul-Spiti informed.
State witnessing inclement weather conditions as rain, thunderstorm and Snowfall occurred in many places of state in past 24 hrs plummeting Minimum temperature below normal.
State disaster Management authority spokesperson Sudesh Mokta said that
Thunderstorms accompanied with Snowfall and landslides disrupts normal life in the state as power supply is off in many places of Una district and Sirmour district.
In the state 322 distribution Transformer Region are affected including 241 in Una district(159 of Bangana subdivision, 70 of Amb and 12 of Una) and 81 in Poanta Sahib subdivision if Sirmour district. In past 24 hrs Thunderstorm also paralysed normal life in some parts of Kangra, Bhunter(Kullu), Sundernagar(Mandi), Palampur(Kangra),
Bilaspur and Bhoranj(Hamirpur).
He said that 15 roads including two National Highway are snowbound and affected by landslide. Seven roads closed due to Snowfall in subdivision Lahaul including NH-505 Gramphu to Lossar and NH-03 Darcha to Sarchu (both are officially closed till summer 2023).
According to district administration Lahaul-Spiti it is continue snowing on Manali-Keylong NH-3 at Atal Tunnel South Portal in Lahaul Spiti. Local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel at night in bad weather, travel only in case of emergency. It also said that earlier in the day Manali Leh National Highway ( NH – 003 ) which was closed for vehicular movement due to heavy snowfall but for local people it was opened for four by four vehicular movement .
Four roads are snow bound in Chamba district including State Highway 26 as three roads are affected in Pangi and one in Salooni. As per information received from 94 RCC of BRO the Pangi-Killar Highway (SH-26) which was closed for vehicular movement due to landslide has now been opened for all types of local vehicles.
District Administration Lahaul-Spiti informed that an incident of landslide occurred at Near Bhibagh under Sub Division Udaipur. In this incident road has been blocked and restoration work is under process.
In Kangra district two roads are affected by landslide in Kangra district and one each are snow affected in Kullu and Shimla. The Gateway to Lahaul-Spiti district 13050 ft high Rohtang pass is snow bound and Rohru- Dodra Kawar is also snow affected.
Many spell of light to moderate snowfall and rain lashed in most places of mid and high reaches and many places in the high reaches. It was continue snowing in Rohtang pass, Goshal hill, Lady of Keylong and Kunzum pass of Lahaul-Spiti district, Pangi, Bharmaur and Manimahesh, Dhauldhar ranges of Kangra district, Kinner Kailash of Kinnuar, Dodrakawar and Churdhar of Shimla .
According to Met Office Gondla in Lahaul-Spiti recorded 8.5 cm Snowfall, Keylong 2.6 cm. Tourist resort Dalhousie got highest 81 mm rain in state followed by Naina devi(Bilaspur) 32.4 mm, Ghamroor(Kangra):
32 mm till 830 hrs on Saturday. State received many spell of snowfall and rain in the day also plummet the Minimum temperature under freezing point in the tribal area.
Minimum temperature of Keylong was coldest in the state recorded minus 0.9 degrees, Shimla 6, Bhuntar airport 9.9, Kalpa+Kinnaur) Dharamshala 9.2, Chamba and Una 11 each, Nahan 12.8, Solan 9.5, Tourist resort Manali 4.8,Kangra 11.6, Mandi 11.3, Bilaspur 14, Hamirpur13, Dalhousie 2.9, Airport Jubberhatti 9, Tourist resort Kufri 3.8 and Narakanda 2.3.
