Prof Sikander elect for RS from HP, unopposed

Himachal Pradesh University former Vice Chancellor Prof Sikander Kumar declared  elected  for  Rajya Sabha seat in State assembly complex on Thursday, the presiding officer and Vidhan Sabha secretary Yaspal Chuhan declared Mr Sikandar elected unopposed as no other contender filled his paper for the only seat going vacant after April 2 with Completion of Congress MP Anand Sharma’s tenure. Later Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, members of his cabinet greeted Mr Sikandar Kumar for electing as BJP candidate without contest in the assembly complex. The election was scheduled to held on Mar 31 for the only RS election however Mr Sikander declared elected on Mar 24 at 5 pm on the last date of withdrawing nomination papers. The newly elected MP belonged to Hamirpur district of HimachaL Pradesh have four Lok Sabha seats and three Rajya Sabha Currently BJP president Jagat Prakesh Nadda and Indu Goswami Union minister  Anurag Thaukur, Kishan Kapoor and Suresh Kashayap  are three member of Lok Sabha. Opposition Congress have now one seat in the parliament of Pratidbha  Singh
