Post Monsoon snowfall indicates early winter in Himachal, Keylong shivers at minus 2.3 degrees

After fortnight of setting off of South West Monsoon major lofty high peaks above 3000 mt draped by early snowfall indicating early winter season in the state.

According to Met Office high reaches of Dalhousie, Kullu -Manali and especially Lahaul Spiti and Kangra had major spell of snowfall till last nod however it was mainly dry today.

The inclement weather forecast likely to cease with effect from today and people would get respite from freezing cold wave in the high reaches.

According to Shimla Met Office night temperature of Keylong (Headquarter of Lahaul spiti)minus 2.3 degrees that of minus 0.7 degrees yesterday. Shimla was nine degrees about two degrees below normal.

Tourists resort Dalhousie had around 80 mm rainfall in last two days got major spell of snowfall on the high reaches welcoming tourists and snow revellers from the plains.

Majestic Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra and Bara-bengal got couple of spell of snowfall. Manali-Leh NH-3 is snowbound since last three days. 

According to IMD all hills above 3000 meters heights including Kokasar had experience snowfall in last 24 hrs.

According to Shimla Met Office highest Hatu peak and Khadrala in Shimla district got fresh spell and  snowflakes  in last two days which is rarely witnessed in early postmonsoon or autumn season earlier.

Minimum temperature remained under subzero in high reaches and including 13050 ft high Rohtang Pass and gateway to Lahaul valley and 14500 ft Knunzum the gateway to Spiti valley got one feet fresh snowfall.

Indian Meteorological Department forecast improvement in the inclement weather During next 24hrs however people have to pull out warms winter clothings and stick to fire place to avoid coldwave.

In rural areas people are busy in grass  cutting to maintain stock if winter and next rainy season dry fodder, clear their farms for sawing Rabi crops have to suspend their daily chore following wet conditions in mid and high hills.

Tourists and locals commuter were warned by district administration Lahaul Spiti yesterday that Manali-Leh, Manali-Sarchu and Darcha -Shinkula road are snowbound.

Administration have forced to withdraw its police check post from Sarchu on September 16 following early winter season and check post Darcha is still functional but advisory was issued to hubris to avoid drive on slippery snow roads inthe freezing cold.

Mandi LS Parliamentarians and Congress state chief Pratibha Singh urged state government and centre to ensure early piling of fuel and winter foods and medicine stocks in tribal areas of Chamba, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur as many connecting roads becoming unfits to maintain stock for the season.

State hospitality industry which was in slumber owing to unprecedented monsoon rain and devastation likely to get flips as with festival season and Navratra pooja festival shrines and state tourists resort are getting footfall of Tourists and devotees from the border states..

Shimla, Manali and Dharmshala Administration may have to hard time to manage the traffic congestion ahead of spurt in footfall of Tourists as the National Highway, Bridges and major roads couldn’t restored to its capacity.
