Landslide on NH-5, Vehicular traffic of Kaza and Kinnaur diverted via NH-505
After closing down of National Highway- no 5 at Nigulasri on September 8, District Administration Lahaul-Spiti has diverted all vehiculars on National Highway 505 from the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
A press release issued by SDM Kaza Harsh Negi said that vehicular Traffic between Gramphoo to Sumdo on SKG road carried as 350-400 meters part of the NH-5 road has been damaged and the road is sinking and massive landslide.
Mr. Negi said that all vehicular traffic carrying LPG cylinders, Fuel Tankers, and other essential daily need supplies are diverted to NH 505 for supply to the Spiti sub-division and Kinnaur District.
He said that widening work of the road between Kaza Gramphoo is also in progress, which may disrupt the movement of heavy vehicles or may cause inconvenience for vehicular traffic may also occur.
He said that additionally, trucks carrying Apples and Peas from Kinnaur would ply on NH 505 for some time.
He said that keeping in view of the above, Officer Commanding Gref was deploying all the machinery, equipment, and manpower at NH 505.
BTO is also requested to help in the smooth functioning of the highway and clear all kinds of obstacles as diversion of heavy vehicular traffic may cause inconvenience or possible breakdown of heavy vehicles and keep open NH 505 round the clock.
, SHO Kaza was also instructed to conduct regular patrolling twice or thrice between Lossar to Chhota Dhada (RD 169) with satellite phone and update Control Center Kaza (94599-00399, 89880-98072) and undersigned regularly.
DSP Keylong would also conduct regular patrolling of road between Gramphoo to Chhoda Dhada with a satellite phone and send information regularly to Control Center Kaza for maintenance of smooth vehicular traffic.
