Golden Jubilee Torch Passed to UHF and HPKV in State Action Plan Workshop

At the recent State Action Plan Workshop 2024-25 held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sundernagar, the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni and CSK HPKV, Palampur were handed over the Golden Jubilee celebration torch from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.

In commemoration of the Golden Jubilee Celebration marking the establishment of first Krishi Vigyan Kendras in India, the ICAR has initiated a symbolic gesture of passing a digital torch among various KVKs nationwide. The first KVK established in 1974 in Puducherry, this torch represents the vital role KVKs play in advancing agricultural technology and uplifting the farming community. With 731 KVKs currently operational, these centers serve as crucial hubs for disseminating technological innovations from laboratory to farmland, thereby contributing to the nation’s agricultural prosperity.

The torch was ceremoniously transferred to UHF and HPKV by Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director of ICAR’s Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone 1. Receiving the torch on behalf of their respective institutions were Dr Naveen Kumar, Director Extension from HPKV, and Dr Anil Sood, Joint Director Communications from UHF. This torch will now embark on a journey across all KVKs in Himachal Pradesh, fostering a spirit of unity and progress among agricultural scientists and practitioners.

The State Action Plan Workshop provided a platform for scientists from all KVKs in Himachal Pradesh to deliberate on strategies for the upcoming year. Sessions covering diverse topics including Crop Protection, Plant and Horticulture Sciences, Agroforestry, Animal Science, and Home Science were conducted, featuring presentations and interactive discussions aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability.
