Electricity union seeks the posting of a permanent MD in the Board

The Joint Front of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees and Engineers staged a protest at short notice outside the Board Headquarters Kumar House here today to blame the management class for today’s financial plight of the Electricity Board. Held guilty and demanded immediate appointment of a permanent Managing Director in the Electricity Board.

On this occasion, Front Convenor E. Lokesh Thakur and Co-Convenor Heera Lal Verma said that the Board has been run by a temporary MD for the last nine months, due to which the functioning of the Board has been badly affected.

They said that the functioning of the board is hampered as salaries and pensions of employees could not disbursed in time.

The Front said that today 50 thousand families belonging to staff and pensioners are suffering the consequences of the functioning of the ad-hoc Managing Director.

It is noteworthy that from April this year, Harikesh Meena has been given the additional charge of MD of the Board, whereas he already has the charge of two departments and corporations.

Earlier this morning, a meeting of state officials of the Joint Front of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees and Engineers was held at Kumar House here in which they demanded the state government appoint a permanent Managing Director to the Electricity Board.

Front expressed concern over the delay in the restoration of old pensions in the Electricity Board and demanded its immediate implementation.

The Front says that the CCS Pension Rules, 1972 have been implemented in the Electricity Board on the lines of the State Government and all the amendments made by the State Government in these rules have been implemented in the Board.

Legally, this amendment made by the state government regarding old pensions is also mandatory to be implemented in the board, but delay in implementing it will increase technical problems for the board itself.

The Front has demanded the immediate start of the construction work of four small hydroelectric projects given by the State Government to the Board for construction in the Chamba district.

Many Employees of the Electricity Board and organizations of engineers participated in the meeting of this joint front and said that if the state government does not resolve the demands in time, then the front will start a statewide movement on January 6, 2014, from District Una in which pensioners of the Electricity Board will be involved.
