Anurag Thakur met Union Minister Giriraj Singh for relief from the damage caused by rains and floods in Himachal

Union Minister for Information Broadcasting and Youth and Sports Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur met Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh in New Delhi today. Anurag Singh Thakur, during the meeting with the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, requested relief from the damages caused to the roads and houses in Himachal due to rains and floods. Anurag Singh Thakur demanded Giriraj Singh ji to construct 2700 km of roads under the Prime Minister’s Rural Roads Scheme and 5000 houses under the Housing Scheme. The Rural Development Minister immediately gladly accepted Anurag Thakur’s demand for the construction of 2700 km of roads.

During the meeting, Thakur also apprised Giriraj Singh about the damages caused due to heavy rains in Himachal in the recent past. A senior leader of Himachal Pradesh BJP and MLA from Naina Devi Randhir Sharma was also present during this meeting.

Anurag Thakur said, “The hill state of Himachal Pradesh has to face different types of natural calamities due to its geographical complexity and change of weather. Due to heavy rains and floods in Himachal for the last few days, there has been a lot of damage to life, property, and infrastructure. The incident of breaking roads and breaking of houses of people is sad. This time the rains have damaged those road-houses-bridges where flood water had never reached before. Today I met the Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh and informed him in detail about the damages caused by the floods in Himachal Pradesh.

Speaking further, Anurag Thakur said, “During the meeting with the Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh, I prominently raised the issue of the roads built under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana under his ministry getting washed away in the rains. I requested the Honorable Minister that the work of reconstruction of the roads in the rural areas of Himachal which have been washed away due to floods should be started as soon as possible so that the problem of commuting of people ends and normal life is restored as before. I placed a demand with the Honorable Rural Development Minister for the construction of 2700 kilometers of roads, which he readily accepted. For this, I am grateful to him from the bottom of my heart.

Anurag Thakur said, “I also talked to Giriraj Singh ji on the issue of people’s houses collapsing due to rain in rural areas. Under the Prime Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme, there was a wide discussion on the issue of making houses for rain-flood-affected people in Himachal. I placed before him a demand for the construction of 5000 houses for the flood-affected families in Himachal Pradesh, which he also accepted. In the last 9 years, 15331 houses have been constructed in Himachal under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Along with this, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, more than 21 thousand kilometers of road construction work has also been completed in Himachal.
