65 trapped persons , including a child , rescued from flooded Beas by NDRF in Dharamshala
57 trapped people along with a child who were got trapped in Crusher , which is located in the mid of BEAS River which was flooded today due to heavy rains, at Jawalamukhi and eight persons from Mand village of Tehsil Indora, in district Kangra, who were caught due to sudden increase in the water level of river Beas after release of water from Pong Dam. 14 NDRF sent two teams immediately to both the spots for rescue operations. Mr. Baljinder Singh Commandant 14 NDRF told us that a team was rushed to Jawalamukhi and started the rescue operation. Despite the heavy rains, the team immediately reached the people trapped in the water with the help of boats and other equipment and further rescue operation was started and the team rescued 57 persons including a child and 08 persons were rescued from Mand village where they were trapped after the Pong Dam gates were opened today. All the eight persons were brought to the safety by the NDRF personnel. He said that the NDRF team had to clear different road blockades on way from Nurpur, 14 NDRF Head Quater, to Jawalamukhi and reached when in time. He said that the NDRF personnel with the help of boats reached the crusher in the middle of River Beas and rescued 57 persons. He said that there were nearly 13 persons still trapped there and the operations to rescue them were in progress.
