Una in Himachal receives the highest rainfall after 100 yrs
Himachal Pradesh witnessed the highest ever rainfall as the previous highest hundreds of years recorded was beaten by July 9 and 10 moreover incessant rainfall is continuing.
According to Shimla Met Office Una recorded 228.5 mm rainfall on July 9 and 169.2 mm on July 10 compared to the previous highest 224 mm rain record of July 22, 1927.
This capital town had 185 mm of rain on July 9 compared to the previous highest 170 mm of rainfall on July 25, 1966.
Pachhad of Sirmaur recorded 220 mm of rainfall on July 10 which compared to the previous highest 189.2 mm of July 26, 1973. Kullu had 131 mm of rainfall on July 9 compared to the highest 105.1 mm on July 9, 1071. Solan recorded 107 mm of rainfall on July 9, 2023, compared to 105 on July 17, 2015. Kangra had 166 mm of rain on July 9 2023 compared to 164.8 mm on July 19, 1966. Nadaun of Hamirpur had 160.5 mm of rain on July 9 compared to 146 mm on July 30 ,1996.
Nahan had the highest 248 mm rainfall in the last 24 hrs followed by Dahulakuana had 216 mm, Nainadevi in Bilaspur with 198 mm, Dharmshala with 191 mm, Dehra Gopipur with 175mm, Mnadi with 164 mm, Shimla with 139 mm.
The Met Office attributed the unprecedented rainfall to South West Monsoon and Western disturbance.
