Bihar cadre IAS identified as Jitendra Prasad Sah died today in a tragic mishap while scaling Rupin Pass near Dodra-Kwar subdivision of the district in Himachal Pradesh today
Confirming the incident Vice-Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Jakha Mr. Goverdhan Singh said that he immediately contacted Police Post Dodra-Kwar, Chirgaon.
Local people and police rushed to the spot and found that a trekker, met with a fatal accident when he lost his balance on the treacherous path and fell into the deep gorge of Sharwan Khadd. Despite prompt medical attention, Sah succumbed to his severe injuries on the spot.
Responding promptly, local officials launched an investigation and initiated the necessary proceedings to ascertain the details of the accident and ensure appropriate measures were taken.
54 – year-old deceased IAS was participating in a trekking expedition as a five-member group from Bihar, all of whom were male. Additionally, there were sixteen other individuals from different parts of the country who were participating in the tracking expedition.
This expedition was being held by a renowned hiking and adventure travel company, catering to thrill seekers and nature enthusiasts.
State stated that preliminary findings revealed no evidence suggesting any foul play or suspicious circumstances surrounding Sah’s tragic demise.
The cause of death has been attributed to the severe head injuries sustained in the fall.
The autopsy, conducted at CHC Sandasu on June 26, 2023, confirmed the accidental nature of the fatality.
After the completion of the postmortem examination, the body of the deceased was handed over to Sah’s friends.
Ram Bhushan Singh, accompanied by Dr. Ramesh Kumar, a Joint Secretary in the Bihar Government’s Industry department and a PCS Officer, received the body to facilitate its final journey back to Beyur, Tehsil Fulwari, District Patna, Bihar, Sah’s ancestral village.
Local authorities have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.
