Road connectivity to the industrial hub of Baddi snapped as the main bridge connecting Pinjore damaged
Incessant rainfall continue since last night aggravated the impact on this hill state including a main bridge connecting Pinjore of Haryana to the Industrial area Baddi has damaged this morning beside this state capital Shimla and the Industrial area of Solan district cut off from the rest of the state and country once again.
According to a post tweeted by HP Traffic, Tourist & Railways Police warned that a pillar of Baddi Main Bridge collapsed around 0700 hrs on Wednesday and the bridge is bent in the middle.
District Traffic police informed the commuters and Industrial houses that this portion of the highway has been permanently closed for traffic at the Baddi Main barrier bridge. There would be no foot movement as well. The administration advised people to follow the alternate route via Maranwala Barotiwala for entry into BBN (Baddi, Browtiwal, and Nalagarh industrial area).
The district administration Solan also issued instructions that NH 05 Shimla to Chandigarh is now closed for all types of vehicles at Chaki Mod. Alternative routes have also been closed due to landslides in many places.
It is raining incessantly since last night and many roads in the Shimla district have been closed. According to the district administration, NH-5 is blocked between Parwanoo and Solan, NH 205 is opened at Ghanndal valley bridge for Light Motor vehicles having less than 20 tons of weight, and Narkanda-Nankhari and Nankhari-Nirath, roads are blocked. Other roads blocked in Shimla district are Sunni-Rampur, Bioleuganj-Summerhill, Tutikandi-Phagli and Khalini, Bemoli to Talend, Mehli-Junga, Mehli- Badagoan-Shoghi, Chhota Shimla-Oakover (nr Rahat hotel), Kasumpti & Perimahal, Kasumpti-SDO complex-Vikasnagar and police line Kaithu.
Narkanda-Tikkar, Kharpathar-Tikkar, and Gumma -Baghi road was closed for heavy vehicles. Shimla-Airport Road was also disrupted in a number of places.
Santhu-Lower Thadi roads in Solan were disrupted by a flash flood and two vehicles are pushed out off the roads tangling on the parfait.
IMD has kept ten districts of Himachal Pradesh on red alert Issuing an Orange warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places.
Accompanied by Thunderstorms and lightning Solan and Shimla districts witnessed unprecedented rainfall for the last 12 hrs which paralyzed normal life in both districts.
IMD warned that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is very likely to continue at most places in the state, Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in the Districts of Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Una, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra and heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in the Districts of Chamba, Kullu, Kinnauri and Lahul and Spiti for next 2 to 3 hours.
