Rekha got first place in the spoon race, Sangeeta in pot breaking, and Sonu in the musical chair

International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dubuque on Tuesday under the joint aegis of Ekta Mahila Gram Sangathan and Jagran Mahila Gram Sangathan, two self-help groups of Gram Panchayat Balog. Zilla Parishad member Santosh Sharma participated in the function as the chief guest. On this occasion, the spoon race, matka burst and musical chair competition were the main attractions of the colorful cultural programme. Rekha Sharma got first position in spoon race, Sangeeta Thakur in Matka breaking and Sonu Sharma got first position in musical chair competition. At the same time, village organization officer Mamta Kashyap increased the knowledge of women by asking riddles. The women of the Giriganga group mesmerized the women attending the program by dancing to the hymn Mere Ram Aaye. While CRP Rama won everyone’s hearts by doing a solo dance.
Zilla Parishad member Santosh Sharma said in his address that in the present context, women are coming out of the four walls of conservatism and ensuring their participation in the mainstream of society. Reena Rana, head of Ekta Mahila Gram Sangathan, said that under NLRM, while women are strengthening the economic condition of their families by becoming self-reliant, they are also actively participating in every social activity in their area.
Secretary of Ekta Mahila Gram Sangathan, Meera Kashyap welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day. He said that even today in the male-dominated society, many women are becoming victims of domestic harassment, which is a matter of great concern and contemplation. The village organization will take the initiative to make such victimized women aware so that no woman is harassed at any level.
