Prabodh Saxena appeals to sensitize people about Environmental concerns

Chief Secretary, Prabodh Saxena urged that all the organizations, departments and NGOs to organize major outreach and advocacy activities throughout the State for mass mobilization on Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). The aim of this outreach is to sensitize people about the impact of behavioural change on environment and desired that all the departments shall ensure timely reporting.

He directed the forest department to organize plastic cleanup campaigns in and around forest areas, National parks, eco sensitive zones with co-branding Mission LiFE through entry tickets of National Parks, promote bicycle routes and organize cycle rallies. The Forest department shall also organize soil and moisture conservation initiatives with local community. Department of Education shall also activate network of eco-clubs to undertake awareness campaigns in collaboration with HIMCOSTE.

Director, Department of Environment, Science Technology & Climate Change (DEST & CC), D.C. Rana, made a PowerPoint presentation on Mission LIFE. He informed that the department/sector wise indicative Plan of Action (POA) in line with the guidelines of the Government of India has been prepared. He further informed that supportive information/creatives for the mass mobilization have already been made available on the Mission LiFE portal i.e. http://missionlife-moefcc.nic.in/, and the document in this context published by Govt. of India can also be downloaded from http://missionlife-moefcc.nic.in/assets/pdf/Prayaas-Se-Prabhaav-Tak.pdf.

He said that all the activities shall be undertaken using Mission LiFE Logo, thereafter, needs to be uploaded by the Nodal Officers on the portal: https://merilife.org/. He also informed that it is a proposed plan and is indicative, the departments may add more sector specific activities according to Mission LiFE guidelines.

The Department of Environment., S&T, SPCB, Education, Food & Civil Supply, Urban Development, Rural Development, Dept. of Personnel, PRIS, Youth & Sports, Jal Shakti, Department of Women and Child Development, Energy, Agriculture-Horticulture, Transport, Tourism, Public Relations, Language, Art & Culture have been directed to play active key role in performing various activities for mission life.

The department shall launch campaign in model eco-villages to convert Eco-villages to LiFE villages. Directions were given to State Pollution Control Board to organize campaigns for improving environmental performance of industries.
