Opposition Parties to hold brainstorming meeting at Shimla on July 10 to 12
All the Fifteen Opposition parties of India are likely to attend the brainstorming meeting at Shimla on July 10 to 12, 2023 to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha election together to defeat the ruling BJP in the center.
The party office bearers of Congress, CPI(M), and AAP in the state have been alerted by the national unit for the upcoming meeting likely to be held at Hotel Peterhoff at Shimla on July 10 to 12.
Chief Minister Sukvinder Singh Sukhu, Pratibha Singh, and Congress stalwart Kaul Singh Thakur were at AICC headquarters for the last three days about the cabinet expansion and review of party government performance in Himachal Pradesh.
It was after the AICC meeting that party leader Mallikarjun Kharge announced yesterday to convene an opposition party meeting at Shimla on July 12. Mr. Sukhu, Ms. Singh, and AICC spokesman SP Khera would likely reveal the outcome of the AICC meeting and the possible venue for the opposition party meeting today.
CPI(M) state sectarian member Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar said that the first meeting of the Opposition party held at Patna was attended by the 13 parties however latter two main opposition parties also showed solidarity with the opposition. He said that in this meeting all the 15 non-BJP opposition parties are going to attend the two days conference including CPI(M). He said that AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwat Mann expected to attend the meeting in July brainstorming session.
AAP state leader J. D Chauhan said that AAP is not happy with the Congress party as it wants clear assurance from the latter moreover AAP has a government in Punjab and Delhi likely to bargain on the most of LS seats in both states. He however informed that according to a communique received from Delhi AAP leaders including Delhi CM and Bhagwant Mann may be in the all-party meeting on July 12 at Shimla. AAP local units are expecting its leaders in the all-party meeting irrespective of their stand on the opposition unity.
Congress which is elated over the recent victory of the party in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka trying to make come back after the drastic decline of the grand old party in many states, especially in North India and North East. The former Jammu Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik’s formula of VP Singh’s third front alliance against the Congress party in 1989 to put one opposition candidate against the ruling party seemed to be the formula of the opposition joint unity which may help the Congress and opposition parties in Lok Sabha and state assembly election. Mr. Kharge disclosed yesterday that opposition unity might be forged at the Shimla meeting and would take final shape in the cool clime and scenic beauty of Shimla.
All the pre-poll alliance partners are likely to issue separate statements after they attended the Patna meeting successfully. The AICC leader was quoted in the media saying that after successful meeting with Patna, they are likely to meet soon at Shimla again next month as all the political parties expect BJP would meet again to give final shape to this plan. ” We will meet at Simla on July 12” stated the AICC chief while acknowledging the success of this meeting.
