Only vehicles of 10-ton load capacity will pass on Bangran bridge at a time- SDM

The Bangarang bridge under the Paonta sub-division has been open for vehicular movement since last Monday, but only vehicles up to 10-ton load capacity will be able to pass at a time. Giving information in this regard, SDM Gunjit Cheema said that the capacity of the bridge has been estimated at 10 tonnes by the technical wing of the Public Works Department. It may be noted that the repair work of the Bangaran bridge has been completed recently and Rs.1.25 crore has been spent on this work. Earlier, for the convenience of the people, an alternative route was arranged by the Public Works Department for the movement of vehicles, due to which there was no difficulty in rebuilding the bridge, nor was there any inconvenience to the general public.
Cheema said that a signboard of its load capacity has been installed on the bridge and the concerned authorities have been directed not to allow vehicles of more than 10-ton load capacity to pass on the bridge at a time. He has also appealed to the general public that although the bridge is safe now, vehicles carrying overloaded vehicles should not pass through it. He said that people have welcomed the restoration of the bridge and expressed gratitude to the state government for this. He said that this was a long-standing demand of the people of the area regarding the repair of the bridge, which the government has fulfilled.
