Nauni varsity student contingent flagged to Australia for 21-day training

A 10-member student contingent of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni was flagged off on Wednesday evening for a three-week International training programme at Western Sydney University, Australia. The training programme has been fully funded under the ICAR National Agricultural Higher Education Project’s (NAHEP) Institutional Development Plan. The Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla also interacted with the students during his visit to the university on Wednesday. He congratulated the students and wished them a fruitful training programme. 

Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor flagged off the bus to Delhi from where the students boarded their flight to Sydney. While addressing the students, UHF Vice-Chancellor thanked the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for enabling the students and faculty of the university to learn from prestigious foreign universities. He advised the students to become ambassadors of the country and the university. He congratulated Dr. KK Raina, Principal Investigator of IDP and the whole team for their efforts in sending students and faculty abroad for various training programmes.

Selected students

Yamini Thakur, Palak, and Rishita are from the College of Horticulture while Nishtha Sharma, Saumya Bisht and Akhilesh Thakur represent the College of Forestry on the main campus. Sejal Thakur, Abhay Thakur, Tanvi and Anjali Chandel are from the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri. These students will visit Industrial hubs, start-ups, horticulture farms and forest areas during their training. The students will also get a chance to visit agri-incubators and agro-processing units and also interact with the entrepreneurs.

Under this programme, 36 students of the university had recently completed a month-long international training programme at the Asian Institute of Technology. Additionally, 27 faculty members had also undertaken training programmes in several universities in various countries.
