Major landslide & caving-in of NH-5  near Nigulasri 

Major Landslide disrupted vehicular traffic on Hindustan-Tibet National Highway no 5 last night which also caving in 200 meter road at Nigulasri in Kinnaur district disruption vehicular traffic to Indian-China border tribal district of Kinnaur and Spiti valley of Lahaul-Spiti districts Last night.

Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Tarul S Ravish said that Landslides have been coming down for the last three days but vehicular traffic was closed with effect from 1900 hrs to 0500 hrs till this morning.

The landslide occurred around 2300 hrs last night and it also carried away utility vehicles parked on the road. No loss of life has occurred in the incidents.

After the closing down of highway administration providing transshipment facilities for the people, instructions were given to provide all kinds of basic facilities to the passengers.

Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today inspected the traffic blocked on National Highway-05 at Nigulsari in Kinnaur and issued  necessary guidelines to the concerned departments.

The Tribal Development Minister instructed the officials of National Highway-05 and other concerned department officials to carry out the work of opening the blocked road on a war footing. 

The road restoration work should be completed as soon as possible so that the year-long hard work of the people of Kinnaur district can be used to deliver their crops including apples and peas to the market on time and they can get a fair price for their hard work.

 To stop the rotting of ripened Apple and Pea crops vehicular traffic was diverted via the Taranda Nigulsari route with immediate effect to ensure timely transport of crops to the market.
