Kangra town jolts by 3 magnitude earthquake
The Kangra town of this Himalayan North West state was jolted by a three-magnitude earthquake as tremors were felt around 5.49 pm on Saturday. The press communique issued by the Indian Meteorological Department here today said that Kangra town which is fall in the seismic schedule -V zone was jolted by an earthquake measured
3 on the Richter scale at 1749hrs Indian Standard-Times. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at the Latitude of 32.33 and Longitude of 76.22 and a depth of five km. No loss of life or property was located in the earthquake. Kangra Valley had been witnessed one of the worst 7.8 magnitude earthquakes in 1905 which killed around 20,000 people completely ravaging most of the buildings of Kangra, Mcleodganj, and Dharmshala.
