IMD sounds a red alert in the Ranjit Sagar & Pong Dam catchment area
Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert of very heavy rainfall at many places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Beas or Ranjit Sagar and Satluj or Pong Dam catchment area in Himachal Pradesh in the next 24 hrs.
IMD spokesperson said that heavy rainfall may occur at many places in the Beas and Sutlej catchment moreover forecast of very heavy rainfall at isolated places in the region.
Red Alert issued this evening said that moderate to heavy rainfall occurred at many places very likely to continue over the state. It said that possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in the district of Chamba Kangra Hamirpur Mandi Bilaspur Solan Shimla Kullu and Sirmaur.
IMD said that due to the possibility of vigorous Monsoon and western disturbance increasing and heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at Dalhousie, Sinhuta, Bhalai, Bhattiyat Holi, Bharmaur, and Chamba, Jawali, Shahpur, Kangra, Dharamshala, Baroh, Dhir, Palampur, Khundain, Thural, Baijnath and Jaisinghpur in Kangra, Haroli, Una and Bangana, Ghumarwin, Bilaspur Jhandutta and Nainadevi Nalagarh, Ramshahar. Arki and Kandaghat. Ponta, Dadahu, Nahan, Renuka, Kamrau and Pacchad, Chopal, Sunni, Shimla, Rampur Chirgaon Dodrakwar and Theog and Hamirpur and Msndi.
