Himachal State Taxes and Excise department seizes gold jewellery worth Rs. 2.17 crore
Commissioner State Taxes and Excise, Dr. Yunus informed here today that on the basis of secret information, the teams of District Shimla and Solan set up checkpoints at different places and seized gold jewellery which was being taken without valid documents. Team Shimla seized Rs. 1.33 crore and Team Solan seized jewellery worth Rs. 84 lakh. Taking action under the Goods and Services Tax Act (GST Act, 2017) the department has collected a fine of Rs. 13 lakh.
The Excise Department, while taking action under the Excise Act against illegal liquor in various districts of the state, destroyed 200 liters of liquor and seized 23 boxes of English and country liquor, he added.
Dr. Yunus said that while taking action at different places in Mandi district, the department teams seized 200 liters of Lahan and destroyed it under the Excise Act. The team of Una district seized 8 boxes of English and country liquor which were kept illegally.
In a similar action, teams of District Kullu seized 15 boxes of English and country liquor in three different cases and recovered Rs. 60,000 as a fine under the Excise Act. The team of Shimla district also visited suspicious places. During the raid, 25 bottles of illegal liquor were seized.
