Himachal Assembly voted on the budget 2023-24

The Himachal Pradesh Assembly today adjourned till April 3, 2023, after passing the 2023–24 annual budget outlay of rupees fifty-six thousand, six hundred, eighty-three crore, sixty-nine lakh, and eighty-two thousand on Wednesday. After applying Gulltain Vidhan Sabha rules, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania cleared all the cut motions without discussion and passed the budgetary grants to departments.

The chief minister, Mr Sukhvinder Singth Sukhu, who holds the portfolio of finance, presented the annual outlay for the 2023-24 financial year of 53,413 crores on March 17. The Chief Minister presented the annual budget in the form of an appropriation bill in the House on Wednesday, which was cleared by voice votes. Mr. Sukhu presented the appropriation bills that said that they shall come into force on the first day of April, 2023. From and out of the Consolidated Fund of the State of Himachal Pradesh, rupees fifty-six thousand, six hundred, eighty-three crore, sixty-nine lakh, and eighty-two thousand may be paid and applied in sums not exceeding those specified in column (3) of THE SCHEDULE AMOUNT. Earlier this house also discussed the cut motion and grant in aid of four heads, including the Public Works Department, IPH, Health, and Education. Speaker’s application of guilting cleared the rest of the cut motions and grants in aid of various boards and corporations in one go.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harash Vardhan Chauhan presented a proposal to cancel two scheduled sessions on March 31 and April 1 as there are two holidays on March 30 and April 1 in between. He said that members would be busy celebrating Ramadan tomorrow. The house would be in session after two days of working during the two holidays. The minister said that two sittings in between the holidays should be cancelled. The speaker stated that after resolving on both sides, he adjourned the house till Monday, April 3, and two reduced sittings of the house were cancelled, but the query presented by the members during these two seating’s was to be replied to on line.
