Governor visits Old Age Home at Basantpur, Launches ‘Seva Pakhwada’
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today visited the old age home at Basantpur in Shimla rural. He interacted with the inmates here and distributed fruits and hygiene kits to them. Janki Shukla, Lady Governor and Chairperson of the State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section also accompanied him during the visit.
On the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Governor inaugurated the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ being organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India from 17 September to 2 October, 2023. He also sends teams of health workers and State Red Cross volunteers for door-to-door health check-ups.
The Governor visited the premises and took stock of the facilities and food etc. being provided to them. Total 50 elderly people are living in the Ashram, which includes 32 males and 18 females. He directed the management to ensure cleanliness and provide a quality diet to the inmates. He said that the environment in such institutions should be cordial and friendly for the well-being of the elderly. He also directed that regular health check-ups of all elderly people should be ensured.
Arjit Sharma, Block Medical Officer detailed the health facilities being provided to the inmates.
Secretary to Governor Rajesh Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Surekha Chopra, Vice-President of State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section Dr. Kimi Sood and other officers were also present on the occasion.
