Fertile arable land washed away by inflated Chandrabhaga river in Lahaul and Spiti
Jobarang village of Lahaul Spiti is on the line of the inflated snow river Chandrabhaga in the Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh due to the rising water level for one week.
A state government spokesperson said that soil erosion in the affected villages rendered huge losses to arable lands along a bank of rivers. An estimated loss of Rs 80 K was reported to Farmers.
In the incident increase in the water level of Chandrabhaga River since 7-8 days, agricultural land of Jobarang villages situated along the river bank has been affected.
Details of the affected farmers are awaited from the field. It is worthwhile to mention that normally Lahaul-Spiti district recorded the least rainfall and is currently facing above-normal rain.
The state has recorded a cumulative loss of tune to Rs 220 Cr due to excessive Monsoon rain and lost invaluable 15 lives and more than 300 livestock.
