Despite heavy rains in the rainy season, the people of Kanech village of Tikkar Panchayat are yearning for a drop of water. Rainwater is being collected and used by the people for drinking. The people of Kanech, who are facing water problems, are angry with the working style of the department.
It may be mentioned that the Kanech-Badgla lift drinking water scheme constructed with Rs 51 lakh was inaugurated by former Irrigation Minister Mahendra Singh Thakur about four years ago. Many people including Kanech residents Amit Tomar, Desraj, Suresh Kumar, Kapil, and Tunna told that water is not coming in this scheme for the last three months due to which serious drinking water problem has arisen. Apart from this, the hand pump installed by the department in Kanech has also been lying defunct for a long time, and has not been repaired by the department for the last six months. Told that when there is no lift of water from the Giri River, at that time people fill water from this hand pump.
Local people say that many times requests have been made to the Jal Shakti Department’s office in Rajgarh regarding the water problem, but no hearing is being held at any level, due to which the local people are forced to meet the CM and Jal Shakti Minister. Have taken It should be noted that even when this scheme was inaugurated, the incomplete scheme was inaugurated by the department in a hurry, due to which water was not available to the people for many months after the inauguration. People have demanded the government restart this scheme soon and get the hand pump repaired immediately.
Assistant Engineer Jal Shakti Vibhag Rajgarh BK Kaundal told that due to siltation in Girinadi, water harvesting was stopped, which will be started soon. Apart from this, the technical team will be sent on the spot to repair the hand pump.
