12 Gaddi people stranded in Pin Valley rescued

Additional Deputy Commissioner Lahul Spiti, Rahul Jain said that 12 Gaddi people who were stranded due to heavy rain and snowfall from Spiti’s Pin Valley towards Bhawa Pass have been rescued.  Along with this, 1200 stranded sheep and goats were taken to safe places.  When the administration team reached the spot and inspected it, about 400 sheep died.  While 50 sheep are still missing.

Except for one Gaddi who was stuck in Chandratal, all the Gaddi people have been rescued.  On July 14, a rescue team with the help of local people provided fodder, medicines, and ration to the donkeys stranded at Kuzum Top and Chandratal.  On the other hand, the second team had gone to Pin Valley to rescue the stranded group of Gadiyos of Rupi village, District Kinnaur in Saganam Valley.  It was here that information was received that 8 more Gaddis were trapped.  They were provided with medicines, ration, and fodder.  On the other hand, the third rescue team left Mud village at 4 a.m. to find the six missing gadidayas belonging to village Koot in the Rampur area.  Around 1100 sheep and goats were trapped between two drains near Bhava Pass, 17 km from Mud.  After this, the rescue team changed the flow of the drain and rescued the sheep and goats.  After about four hours, all the Gaddis were able to reach Mood Village.  On July 15, SDM Harsh Negi himself inspected the spot.  The small bridge at Bada Baldar has completely collapsed.  Because of this 1500 to 2000 sheep and goats are trapped.  The bridge in Shaha has been broken, which needs to be repaired immediately.
