100 Nauni varsity students clear the National level NET exam
One hundred students of three constituent colleges of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni have brought laurels to the university by clearing the All India National Eligibility Test (NET) examination for different disciplines conducted by the ICAR and UGC.
Sixty-seven students from the College of Horticulture which includes 16 each from the Department of Vegetable Science and Department of Plant Pathology, 13 from Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, 5 from Business Management, 3 from Seed Science and Technology and 1 student from Food Science and Technology have cleared the NET examination.
Additionally, 29 students have also cleared the NET examination from the College of Forestry. In the forestry disciplines, 6 students from Soil Science, 13 from Silviculture and Agroforestry, 3 from Social Sciences and 2 each from Environment, Forest Products and Basic Science along with a student from Tree Improvement have cleared this examination. Two students from Vegetable science and one each in Agricultural Economics and Silviculture and Agroforestry disciplines from the university’s constituent college of Horticulture and Forestry at Neri in Hamirpur have also qualified NET examination.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel and the Deans of the colleges personally met the students who have qualified the examination and congratulated them on their achievement. “Over the past year, there has been a significant increase in the number of students who have qualified NET examination in addition to several other national examinations. Last year around 72 students cleared the examination and this year this figure has reached 100. Our students have also performed exceedingly well in various national-level entrance examinations for fellowships and admission to reputed national institutes,” said Prof Chandel.
He added that the university has made efforts to enable students to understand competitive examinations. For this purpose, expert lectures on competitive examinations were organised for the students to enable them to understand and exceed in these examinations.
