Snow Marathon to be organised in Lahaul and Spiti on 10th March

The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation in collaboration with stakeholders in similar fields and groups is organizing various events till mid-March keeping in view the adventure tourism potential in the State and to showcase picturesque places to attract tourists.

A spokesperson of the State Tourism Department stated here today that the 3rd edition of the open Snow Marathon, in four formats, i.e. 42 kms, 21 kms, 10 kms and 5 kms for Men, Women & Juniors categories was proposed to be organized at an average altitude of 11,000 feet in Lahaul on 10th March, 2024. To experience winter adventure the ‘Joy Race’ of one kilometre will also be one of the added attraction of this event, he said.

He further stated that in order to promote winter adventure tourism in the State and explore the tribal areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, ‘Snow Drive Trips’ were being organized till the month of March, 2024 by M/s La Himalaya, Mountain Goat Expeditions, covering Narkanda, Baga Sarahan, Sangla, Tabo and Kaza with the support of the Department of Tourism. Besides this, another event of Asian Rafting Championship is also being organized from 4th to 9th March, 2024 at Pandoa near Tattapani on the waters of Kol Dam reservoir. This will be the first such championship to be hosted in the country to be organised by the State in association with the Indian Rafting Federation, as well as the Indian Army.
