Students don’t have uniforms and don’t even have money for tailoring: BJP
The state unit of BJP said that the present Himachal government has deprived students of uniforms who are left in limbo due to construction.
In a press statement issued here today, Party spokesperson Karan Nanda said that Elementary Education Department is going to give money for school uniforms only to 3.60 lakh students belonging to SC, ST, and OBC. This week Rs 600-600 would be deposited in the bank accounts of the mothers of the said students under DBT.
Nanda said that this time the students will have to buy uniforms from the market themselves.
During the popular Jairam Thakur government of BJP, the uniform was given by the government and separate money was given to get it stitched, but this time the students will have to spend money to get the uniform stitched.
Nanda said that the budget is given to the state by the center for free uniforms, and an amount of about 20 to 22 crores is given for uniforms.
In the past, the present government had excluded the students of classes 9th to 12th and general category students of classes 1st to 8th from the free uniform scheme.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu had also decided to give Rs 600 for free uniforms to the general category students of classes I to VIII, but no order has been issued in this regard so far.
Earlier, our BJP government used to give free uniforms to all the students of classes 1st to 12th.
