Sports winners were awarded at the Indian Institute of Advance Studies Shimla

 The winners of the annual sports meet were awarded on Friday at the Indian Institute of Advance Studies. The prize distribution ceremony held in the seminar room of the institute was presided over by the secretary of the institute, Mr. Mehar Chand Negi. During his presidential address, Shri Mehar Chand Negi said that it is a matter of great pleasure that all the institute’s researchers and employees and their families are participating enthusiastically in sports competitions. Congratulating all the winners, he stressed making sports a part of their daily lives. He also said that sports and related activities ensure our proper mental and physical development. Special guest of the program and National Fellow of the Institute, Professor Shankar Sharan explained the importance of sports in daily life. They inspired everyone to move towards sports through the lines of Swami Vivekananda.

Let us tell you that various indoor and outdoor sports competitions were organized in the institute for adult male participants above 18 years, women and children aged 5-8 years, 9-12 years, and 13-17 years.

Competitions like badminton (single and double), table tennis (single and double), chess, carrom, matki race, sack race, lemon spoon race, musical chair, drum break and competitions like a picture puzzle game, balloon race, Ludo, etc. for adults. It was organized especially for children.

The program was conducted by Public Relations Officer Akhilesh Pathak, while Sports Secretary of the institute Kesar Singh proposed the vote of thanks in the end. At last, the program concluded with the national anthem.
