Rs. 2.84 crore funds released for damages in Himachal

A spokesperson of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) told here today that the damage to life and property due to torrential rains was being constantly monitored.

He informed that from 24th June to 9th July, 2023, as many as 29 landslides, one cloudburst and 24 flooding incidents have been reported in the state. He said that an ex-gratia of  Rs. 2.84 crore has been provided to the affected people so far. Till the morning of 10th July, 2023, 825 roads, 4597 power lines and 795 water supply schemes were disrupted in the state, he added.

The spokesperson said that according to the information received from the Himachal Pradesh State Emergency Operation Center, around 17 deaths have been reported in the state in the last 60 hours till 8 AM on 10th July, 2023. During this period, one hotel and 11 houses were completely damaged and 20 houses were partially damaged. Loss of 100 to 120 animals has also been recorded.

The major highways blocked were Mandi to Kullu, Gramphu to Losar in Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu to Manali and Aut to Jalori and a portion of National Highway-707 near Shillai in Sirmaur and the Tandi to Kadhunala state highway, he added.
