Notice issued to 3- Independent MLA for defying Anti defection law

The political drama in Himachal Pradesh took a decisive as Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania issued notices to three Independent MLAs for defying anti-defection law by joining the BJP recently.

Three Independent MLAs, Hoshiar Singh, KL Thakur, and Ashish Sharma, were issued separate notices on Friday on the complaint filed against them by Congress members of assembly and Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Thursday.

With this new development, three Independent MLAs who are insisting speaker accept their resignation found themselves at the center of the storm after joining the BJP before their resignations were officially accepted.

Minister Jagat Singh Negi’s petition urging the Speaker to wield the anti-defection law against the trio as they jump into the opposition BJP without waiting to accept their resignation.

Speaker issuing notices to the trio also set a deadline for their response by May 4th, the stakes were high.

In the notices Speaker sought a reply from them as to why shouldn’t they face disqualification for jumping the other party despite their being elected on the independent election symbol.

Caught in the crossfire, the independent trio faces a double-edged dilemma. While their petition for resignation acceptance looms in the State High Court, their political fate hangs in the balance.

Their aspirations to contest by-elections under the BJP banner echo the past, where six Congress rebels faced disqualification under similar circumstances.

According to Antidefection law if three MLAs couldn’t give a satisfactory reply they could face disqualification from the assembly for an entire term under Antidefection law.

The BJP’s bold move to field these rebels in by-elections added fuel to the fire, setting a precedent for political maneuvering.
