ITBP was winner in women’s category and UT Ladakh winner in men’s category of National Ice Hockey Championship 2024

Under the joint auspices of the Ice Hockey Association of India, Ice Hockey of Lahaul Spiti and Spiti Administration, the 11th National Ice Hockey Championship 2024 for the women’s category and the 13th National Ice Hockey Championship 2024 for the men’s category concluded on Wednesday at the Ice Hockey Rink.

District Collector Torul S Ravish participated in the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Along with this, General Secretary of the Ice Hockey Association of India Harjinder Jindi, CO ITBP Bansat Kumar Nogal, President of Ice Hockey Association HP Abhay Dogra, and Tehsildar Dr. Kanchan participated as special guests. ADC Rahul Jain honored the chief guest. Apart from this, the distinguished guests were honored by SDM Harsh Amarendra Singh Negi. Ice Hockey Association India, HIPR, and Lahaul Spiti also honored the chief guest and other guests.

In the closing ceremony, ADC Rahul Jain gave detailed information about the competition in the welcome speech and expressed special gratitude to the chief guest and other guests. He said that the Spiti Cup will be organized in Spiti in February. Only teams from Spiti will participate in this.

Addressing the program, Chief Guest District Magistrate Torul S Ravish said that it is a matter of pride for Spiti that national-level ice hockey competitions are being organized here continuously. Infrastructure is being prepared here. We will also make efforts to develop ice hockey in Kinnaur in the coming time. He said that he has hearty best wishes to the players of the 11 teams participating in this competition. Apart from this, the game of the winning team was praiseworthy. The teams that have not won do not need to be disappointed but need to practice from now on for the future. In sports, there are victories and defeats. The final matches of the men’s and women’s categories have been very exciting. I also congratulate the Spiti Administration and Ice Hockey Association India, HIPR, and Lahaul Spiti for successfully organizing the event.

Lahaul Spiti MLA could not attend the program as he was away from the state. He said in his message that the HP team has won the bronze medal in the women’s category in this competition. An incentive amount of Rs 1 lakh will be given to this team. Apart from this, Rs 10,000 will be given to the participants presenting the cultural program in the closing ceremony. He said that for the second time, there has been an opportunity to host national competitions here. The state government is making efforts to develop the infrastructure here. All the players coming here were given better facilities in the homestay. Ice hockey is proving to be a boon for Spiti’s tourism.

Addressing the program, Ice Hockey Association of India General Secretary Harjinder Singh Jindi said that ice hockey has not yet become a famous sport in the country but its teams are increasing year by year. This time 11 teams have participated. Spiti administration and local association have provided very good facilities here.

In the men’s category, the final match was played between UT Ladakh and ITBP in which UT Ladakh won. UT Ladakh scored four goals and the ITVP team scored one goal. Whereas in the women’s category, the final match was played between UT Ladakh and ITBP in which the ITBP team won. ITVP team scored three goals and UT Ladakh scored 2 goals.

In the women’s category, the gold medal was given to the team of ITVP, the silver medal was given to the team of UT Ladakh, and the bronze medal was given to the team of Himachal Pradesh.

In the men’s category, the gold medal was given to UT Ladakh, and the silver medal was given to the ITVP team. While the bronze medal was given to the army team. SDM honored coach Amit Belbal. DPE Sonam, Tsering, Kesang, Nawang, Tsering Angdui, Chuldim, Norbu, Kesang Padma, Tsering Dorje, Sunny, and Norsang were honored by Sanjeevan. Apart from this, Kunga honored the members of the rink maintenance team.

The program is organized under the sweep. Sweep activity was also conducted in the closing ceremony of the competition. The message was given through the players that as many voters as possible should go on the polling day to vote. The students of Ravmapa Kaza took out a rally and raised slogans to make people aware of voting.
