HRTC to provide 10 new vehicles  to Lahaul Spiti to replace the zero value worn out buses

Himachal Pradesh Government announced in the state assembly that HRTC would get ten new Buses in the fleet of 88 buses replacing zero value worn out vehicles in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti. 
This was stated by the Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri who also hold the portfolio of Transport during the question hours on Wednesday. Replying to a query raised by the Ravi Thakur member of assembly from Lahaul Spiti said that it is not fact that most of the buses in Keylong and Kaza are old and have done more than 4 lac K.M. of mileage and would be replaced. 
Minister said that Keylong unit of HRTC has 75 buses and Three Tempo Travellers out of which 20 buses have 9 to 13 years and 27 buses have covered more than four lakhs kilometer of mileage and in Reckong Peo unit have 88 buses out of which 26 buses have 9 to 12 years and 61 buses have covered more than four lakh kilometer of mileage.
Minister said that buses completed four lakh km mileage and still running smoothly need not to be replace as HRTC buses are replaced after completing eight lakh kilometer moreover such buses get replaced in phased manner, as per criteria of condemnation approved by Board of Director (BOD) of HRTC. 
He also stated that for upgradation or construction of sheds at HRTC workshops would be started after availability of funds. The workshop sheds are required to be installed and repaired for workers and staff who have to work in extreme cold conditions for repair of Buses.
