Himachal Govt will provide augmented compensation to affected orchard owners: Sukhu
In the wake of a recent devastating cloudburst in Laila area of Rohru assembly constituency in Shimla district, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inspected the aftermath today and reached out to affected families. During his visit, he extended his condolences to the relatives of a family adversely affected by the disaster wherein three members lost their lives. He assured that the State Government would provide all possible assistance to the affected families.
The Chief Minister directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rohru to expedite preparing of a comprehensive report within the next 12 hours, outlining the financial assistance to be payable to the victims.
Sh. Sukhu said that a comprehensive assessment of the damage incurred by apple orchards was currently underway and augmented compensation would be provided to the affected orchard owners. He said that the state government has increased the compensation amount up to 10 times by amending the relief manual and the relief amount will be disbursed in accordance with the new guidelines.
The Chief Minister assured prompt restoration of a damaged drain’s channelization in Laila area and the repair of a primary school wall damaged due to the cloudburst. He said that cloudburst debris has entered many houses and the State Government was supporting the affected families in addressing this challenge.
The Chief Minister said that the government was actively engaged in providing assistance to the affected. This unified effort underscores the government’s commitment to stand with the families during this natural calamity, ensuring that every impacted individual receives the necessary aid, he said.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Brakta were also present on the occasion.
