Hike in VAT on diesel increased Himachal’s income by Rs 123 Cr

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated in the state assembly that the state registered an increase in the revenue of tune to Rs 128 Crore after a hike in the Value Added Tax on Diesel and an increase in the revenue is around 40 Cr more than the previous year.
Replying to a query raised by Mr. Sukh Ram Choudhary (Paonta Sahib) Chief Minister said that the state government has generated income of Rs 468.60 Cr from the VAT imposed on the diesel. In the same period last year from January 1, 2022, to August 2022, the total income of the government from VAT on diesel was Rs 344.71 Cr. It is worthwhile to mention that the state government increased the VAT on diesel from Rs 4.40 per liter to Rs 7.40 per liter early this year.
