Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla visits disaster-affected Shiv Bawdi and Jadon village

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla visited Shiv Bawdi in Summerhill suburb of Shimla which was badly hit by landslide and took stock of the prevailing situation and rescue operation. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Brakta accompanied the Governor.

The Governor said that the natural calamity caused by cloudburst in Shiv Bawdi is heart-wrenching. He stated: “Information about loss of life and property is being received from many parts of the State, which are shocking.” He also directed the administration to speed up the rescue operation.

Later, the Governor visited Jadaun village of Mamleeg Panchayat of Solan district where seven persons of a family lost their life after being buried under a heavy landslide. The Governor consoled the shock-gripped family members. While talking to the village people, the Governor said that the entire State is with them in this hour of need.

The Governor prayed for the peace of the departed souls and wished speedy recovery of the injured.

In view of the loss of life and property due to heavy rains in the State, he has also decided to cancel the ‘At Home’ to be organized at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Independence Day.

Secretary to the governor also accompanied him during the visits.
