CM Sukhu announces five thousand to the meritorious students
Presides over a function to honour the meritorious students
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over Medhavi Chattar Samaan Samaroh-2023, organised by a daily newspaper here today distributed prizes to 260 students of 10th and 12th standard.
He also announced to give Rs 5000 each to the meritorious students and said that the state government was working with an objective to bring qualitative changes in the education sector. Rajiv Gandhi Government Day Boarding schools will be opened in the state in a phased manner so that children in the villages could have access to modern and quality education.
The Chief Minister lauded the children who had contributed towards Aapda Rahat Kosh from their pocket and said that small gestures become inspiration for others and mean a lot.
The Chief Minister said that the state Government has decided to introduce new courses such as artificial intelligence, data science, robotic engineering, etc keeping in view the future challenges and to generate new avenues of employment. He said that 6000 teachers would be recruited by the end of November next.
In the wake of the recent monsoon disaster in the State the Government has decided to provide Rs 5000 for rented accommodation to the people living in relief camps in rural areas and Rs 10000 in urban areas to facilitate them. It is also planned to run the classes on Saturday and Sunday to complete the curriculum of students in heavy rain affected areas.
He said that the state has suffered massive losses of about Rs 12000 crore due to rain fury. Around1500 Water supply schemes were severely damaged besides losses to roads, electricity and other infrastructure, he added. Taking effective measures to tackle the situation, the state government successfully temporarily restored the essential services within 48 hours to lessen the sufferings of the affected.
