BJP leaders stopped financial help from the Center during the Himachal monsoon disaster: Sukhu
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the financial assistance given to Himachal Pradesh from the Central Government during the disaster was stopped by BJP leaders. The opposition BJP in Himachal did not want the Congress government to rehabilitate the affected families. But the state government resettled 22000 families by giving a package of Rs 4500 crore from its resources. The Chief Minister said these things while addressing an election rally in Haripurdhar of Sirmaur district. He had come here to appeal to vote in favor of Lok Sabha candidate Vinod Sultanpuri.
He said that BJP MP Suresh Kashyap did not heal the wounds of the disaster affected. He did not even reach the Renuka assembly constituency of Sirmaur to know the plight of the people. He neither raised the voice of Himachal in the Parliament nor wrote any letter to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to give a special relief package. We did not get a single penny of help from the Center to deal with the disaster. As Chief Minister, I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other central leaders. We asked for a special relief package on the lines of Bhuj in Gujarat and Uttarakhand, but they did not listen. Now BJP leaders have come to bake political bread in the elections.
The Chief Minister said that during the previous BJP government, money was not directly reaching the hands of the people. To regain power, the BJP made indiscriminate announcements without a budget. Government money was misused. The Congress government earned additional revenue of Rs 2200 crore in a year by closing the doors of the corruption of the BJP. I saved public money from being looted, which angered many leaders and officers.
He said that six Congress MLAs did not come to Himachal for a month after being sold. His money installments were pending, for them, he was roaming around Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi with BJP leaders. He did not even get relief from the Supreme Court after being declared disqualified. The Chief Minister said that now it is a fight for the self-respect of the people of Himachal Pradesh. The people of the state should vote for Congress and the voters of the Shimla parliamentary constituency to make Vinod Sultanpuri victorious so that the message goes to the central government and the country that money-power politics is not going to work in Himachal. The Chief Minister said that Vinod’s in-laws are in Renuka assembly constituency, hence give full support to the son-in-law.
During this, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Vinay Kumar, Congress candidate Vinod Sultanpuri, MLA Ajay Solanki, Dayal Pyari, Tapindra Chauhan, Yashpal Chauhan, Tejinder Kamal, Mitter Singh Tomar, Brij Raj Thakur, Dalip Chauhan, OP Thakur, Pradeep Surya, Anil Sharma and Ajay Bhardwaj etc. were present.
