National Seminar on “The Tragedy of Partition of India and Literature of Indian Languages” begins at IIAS Shimla

A two-day national seminar started on Tuesday, 28 November 2023 at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla. The main topic of the seminar is “The Tragedy of Partition of India and Literature of Indian Languages”. The Director of the National Sindhi Language Development Council, Prof. was the keynote speaker in the inaugural session of this seminar. Raviprakash Tekchandani, National Fellow of the Institute, Prof. Harpal Singh, and Prof. from Venkateshwar College, New Delhi as keynote speakers. Nirmal Kumar was present.

The seminar started by lighting the lamp by the distinguished guests. Seminar convener Dr. Manish Kumar Mishra highlighted the objectives of the seminar with the welcome address. Prof. Nirmal Kumar, Chairman of the Department of History, Venkateshwar College, Delhi, gave his succinct statement in the perspective of Partition and cinema. Pro. Harpal Singh shared his views on the tragedy of partition. Pro. Ravi Tekchandani presented a very touching statement from the perspective of Sindhi literature and society. On this occasion, he also presented a copy of his book published on Partition to the Secretary of the Institute, Shri Mehar Chand Negi. Director of the institution Prof. Nageshwar Rao expressed his gratitude to all the guests who joined the program through online medium. In the end, the Secretary of the Institute, Mr. Meharchand Negi completed the responsibility of the vote of thanks. The inaugural session ended with the national anthem.

Apart from the inaugural session, three discussion sessions were held on the first day in which 10 scholars from across the country presented their research papers. These three sessions were presided over by Prof. respectively. Alok Gupta, Prof. Nirmal Kumar and Prof. Ravinder Singh ji did it. In this way the first day’s seminar concluded in a very pleasant atmosphere.
