A multi corner contest is likely from the Hamirpur Sadar

A multi – corner contest is likely from the Hamirpur Sadar seat in Himachal Pradesh during the November 12 polls .  Narendra Thakur of the BJP will try his bid for a third time to the Vidhan sabha and will face a tough contest from Pushpendra Verma of the Congress and Ashish Sharma , an Independent.  Sharma was a member of the Gau Seva Samiti of the state government before joining the Congress, but later left the party to contest as an Independent.  Naresh Kumar Darji another Independent with BJP like ideology is also in the fray, and is expected to make the game interesting for the saffron party.  The other candidate in the field is Comrade Kashmir Singh Thakur of the CPIM ( Communist Party of India- Marxist ) .  Thakur has been maintaining close contact with the masses for the last five years.  He has held rallies , and dharnas in support of their demands and listened to their problems that is why he could turn up the threat index for both the major parties .  There are 76,646 electorates in the constituency and women outnumber men.  In the 2017 elections, as many as 80.85 per cent of women voted from the Hamirpur seat.   There are over 13,000 voters in Hamirpur town .  In the 2017 elections , Narendra Thakur won the election defeating another former MLA Kuldip Singh Pathania of the Congress by a margin of 7,231 votes .  Pathania was denied a ticket this time due to infighting in the Congress and the party preferred a doctor in his place.  With just 10 days left for the polling , campaigning has gained steam , and leaders and the workers of all parties and Independents have fanned out in the field to manage the support of the people in their favor .  The BJP campaign is spearheaded by local MP – cum Union Information and Broadcasting Minister , Anurag Thakur , his father and former Chief Minister , PK Dhumal , and other senior state – level leaders .  BJP candidate Narendra Thakur is canvassing along with his team of dedicated workers to woo the voters .  On the other hand, Congress ‘ Dr.  Pushpendra Verma is seeking votes reminding people how he had arranged free medical camps for them during the last five years.  However, he has a divided house.  The third and the most known and potential candidate for the seat , Ashish Sharma , a   engineer is working round the clock moving from one village to another seeking support of the masses .  He claims that no party has been able to deliver the goods they promised .
