A delegation led by MLA Ravi Thakur thanked CM Sukhu for providing six crores for Lahaul-Spiti
A delegation of Spiti area led by MLA Lahaul-Spiti, Ravi Thakur called on Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today and apprised various demands of the area.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government had launched massive operations to evacuate the tourists and local people stranded in heavy snowfall from Chandrataal, Kugti Pass, Pin valley and other adjoining areas. He said that the State Government was actively providing all possible assistance to the affected persons and to address the urgent needs, essential commodities and medicines were being supplied to the affected areas on priority through choppers and many tourists were also airlifted and evacuated by road.
Sh. Sukhu said that the shepherds from Kangra, Mandi and Bara Bhangal, Chamba and other areas were also evacuated and given medical assistance including to their livestock. He said that to overcome the challenges posed by the natural calamities the Government would continue to prioritize the well-being of the affected individuals.
MLA Ravi Thakur thanked the Chief Minister for taking timely and immediate steps on humanitarian ground. He also thanked him for providing a substantial amount of about Rs. 6 crore to Deputy Commissioner Lahaul-Spiti under SDRF and NDRF for undertaking restoration and repair works in Lahaul-Spiti district.
