Tomato based food processing industry will be established in Banalgi : Ram Kumar Choudhary
Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Industries, Revenue and Town Planning) Ram Kumar Choudhary said that tomato-based food processing industry will soon be established in Banalgi of Doon assembly constituency.
Ram Kumar Chaudhary was addressing the awareness camp on Farmer Fair and Farmer Producer Organization in Banalgi of Gram Panchayat Darwa of Doon Assembly constituency today.
Farmer Fair and Farmer Producer Organization Awareness Camp was organized by Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University, Agricultural Science Center (Kandaghat), Solan, Nauni.
Mr. Choudhary said that to strengthen the economy of farmers, it is necessary that they get fair price for their produce. He said that agriculture and horticulture based food processing industries can play an important role in this direction.
He said that Solan district is a leader in tomato production and there is huge potential for economic transformation through tomato based processing industry in the district.
The Chief Parliamentary Secretary said that the state government will soon establish a tomato-based processing industry in Banalgi.
While this will ensure full utilization of the tomato crop produced in the state, it will also strengthen the economy of the farmers.
He said that the processing industry will also prove helpful in providing better employment and self-employment to the local youth. He said that adequate land has been allotted for the establishment of this industry in Banalgi.
He said that the matter of road construction for the convenience of the industries and villagers to be established in the area will be sent to the higher level for appropriate action under the Forest Rights Act.
Ram Kumar Chaudhary said that the economy of Himachal is mainly dependent on agriculture and the state government is laying special emphasis on the use of advanced technology in the agriculture sector.
Basic facilities and necessary infrastructure are being provided in all the markets of the state. He said that it is being ensured to provide fair price and advanced technology to the farmers for their produce.
He praised Krishi Vigyan Kendra Solan for organizing the farmers’ fair and organizing awareness camps regarding Farmer Producer Organization. He urged all the farmers of the area to join the Farmer Producer Association and become helpful in strengthening their own and the state’s economy.
Thereafter, under the ‘Garkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme, he listened to the problems of the local residents and gave instructions for their proper disposal. In the program, 70 problems were received in writing and 32 orally.
Director Extension Education Dr. Inder Dev said that a farmer producer organization (The Kasauli Hill Farm Producer, Processing, and Marketing Co-operative Society Limited, Dharampur) has been formed by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra for the Dharampur development block. So far, 155 farmers of Dharampur development block have registered in this organization.
